Hmmmm….

On one of my journeys up the mountain, I drive on a very rural road for about 5 miles. There are stop signs at random intersections that I’ve yet to see a car at…we are talking RURAL.

And then, the posted speed limit is 20 MPH…

I can’t quite figure this out. And then this…

In the middle of nowhere😂😂😂. Not sure where the water comes from, as it is well beyond city limits. And even more peculiar…it’s not close to any house!

So there you have it. The perplexities from my Monday😂😂😂.

Down Time

I took advantage of having an entire day off, and stayed home this Sunday morning. I pulled up the church service on YouTube from home, and was tickled to see our former pastor as a guest speaker at church today. It felt like I was there, even though I was not. After getting some tasks done around the house, Jax and I went out for a nice leisurely walk in the beautiful sunshine. Some fun photos to share with you…

Sticking Close to Hone

I am on call today, so I won’t venture far. After 5 o’clock, I am a free bird. In wandering around Montrose, I found a cute little winter market!

And I love this city… There are random statues scatter throughout the town like little gifts you come across unexpectedly. I guess not so unexpectedly if you live here though. 😂😂😂😂.

I had another recommendation from a local today…’Peach Valley’. And within a 15 to 20 mile drive from where I am. I feel like I am the middle of a little gold mine! Next weekend will be Telluride, so maybe tomorrow, Peach Valley.

Sigh…

Having a little bit of a time getting the poor little fox image out of my mind. So I need to post a happy before I go to sleep. True Grit… John Wayne was one of my favorite older actors, up there with Jimmy Stewart, although I never watched many westerns! Still, he seemed like a man of integrity. This is the wall. The original wall in the cafe…

There were pictures of ‘the Duke’ all over the cafe, but I didn’t want to look like a tourist and walk around snapping photographs. It’s bad enough that I pull over on the side of the roads to do that.😂😂😂

I’ll bring it to a close with this. I am so grateful he is with me. I think the snow is the only thing he knows to associate with home, and so whenever there is snow nearby, he goes to it. I can’t wait to see his reaction the day we return home and drive up our driveway…💕

And a sad…

I saw this little fox hunting as I went on a river walk. When I got back on the road, he’d been hit by a car and was killed. A sad moment in my happy day😞. My verse this morning was ‘Teach me to number my days, that I might gain a heart of wisdom’. Life is so very fragile.

Well I’ll Be!

I decided to take a drive up to Ridgeway today to start the new year off with a hike in the mountains. A kind passerby just happened to mention…’You’re so close to town. Don’t miss the True Grit Cafe!’

So, as is customary, I ALWAYS follow the recommendations of the locals! I had NO IDEA that this was the very town True Grit was filmed! The original. Way back in 1969 , with the maestro of westerns…JOHN WAYNE!

They are telling me I am sitting next to the original wall of the saloon, and across the street, the tree where a hanging took place. Can’t remember whose, but hopefully not John Wayne’s😳. (Never saw True Grit!)

Colorado has not yet once failed to disappoint. I am so grateful to be able to explore this beautiful state! I can’t wait to see what the year ahead will bring. So far, it is off to an amazing start! 🙏💕🤗
