…but only 19 miles ๐. Have I mentioned Israel is a very small country? Today we will go north to Netanya, where we will meet up with our group, but not until this evening. Tomorrow is the official start of the tour, and Netanya is on the coast of the Mediterranean, so it will be fun having a day there to explore by ourselves. It is quite a bit smaller than Tel Aviv, so hopefully easy to get around, although the ‘perp’ did amazingly well yesterday!๐๐๐๐๐

I was shocked when our taxi driver (getting to our Airbnb proved difficult, as NO signage is in English, nor even traditional letters of the alphabet, so we finally broke down and hailed a taxi๐) that the population of Israel is 10 million people. I didn’t believe him, so I googled it at the hometel. As of 2025, 9.7 million, so he was pretty darn right๐ฑ! I cannot figure out how they all fit into such a tiny space. He then went on to say, “We are surrounded by 10.4 million hostiles.”
My disbelief must have shown on my face, because he glanced at me in the rear view mirror and said, “It’s true.” How sad to have so much evil so close to your border, with no land escape route possible. My seat mate on the plane was Muslim. He was trying to convince me that they are a peaceful people. My disbelief was much more evident then I am sure, but as he was sitting next to me, he must not have noticed. It’s odd being in a place where the enemy blends in so well…all here have dark hair, dark eyes, olive tone skin. As I’d walk, I’d see people pass by and wonder how the Israeli folks can figure out who to keep out of their country because of the potential threat they might pose. I am glad it is not I who has to make those decisions!
Well, I’ll continue to pack up for our impending move. Next up…Netanya!

I apologize if there are any repeats. Just wanted to leave you with some more pictures๐ค.
