We started our day exploring the northern most point of Israel, where the tribe of Dan settled. It was located at the starting point of the River Jordan, and lush, fragrant basil leaf trees lined the walkways. It was serene and peaceful to say the least. Across the valley and in within easy visibility was Lebanon, and to the northeast, Syria. During our time at the site, a small cat joined us, and it stayed with us until the end of our journey, some 40 minutes later. I think I neglected to mention that cats, AND dogs, are prevalent here, although the dogs all have human owners. The cats, while on their own, are surprisingly friendly, but still, my FDR training dissuades me from touching them π. But they get plenty of attention from the rest of the group, as I haven’t given them the motherly lectureππ!

Head gate π.

River Jordan. Crystal clear, babbling and cool. Life sustaining for those who lived here. π

Our feline friend would rest when we stopped to hear Mickey share prominent facts about where we were.

Then when we’d move, up she’d go!π

At times it seemed she was listening right along with the rest of usπ.

The rock pathway. Solid set stones made walking easierπ.

Sadly, for a country under perpetual threat of attack, these are the norm. π

Group photo time!
