Breakfast

Seeing as how our Thai lunch was the last meal for the day yesterday, we both woke up a bit hungry. And seeing as how today is our food tour, a breakfast was in order, which would allow us to forego lunch in favor of sampling the flavors and traditions of Poland 😊. I was able to find quaint little place near Old Town, and breakfast, Warsaw style, was both intriguing and tasty. ☺️

Dean had the ‘Traditional’ breakfast, which was a ham/egg salad along with sliced meat, cheese and warm rolls, while I had a ‘Savory Wrap’…filled with curried chicken πŸ˜‚. It’s so interesting how cultures and sustenance changes from country to country. I think eggs are considered more of an addition to a recipe than a stand alone item here. I bought a carton of eggs in Krakow and there were eight eggs. Other cartons had four eggs. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

And I might add that the vegetables were a lovely addition!

I walked Dean home afterwards so I could go explore Warsaw. He’s about done with the walking, but it’s not optional tonight, so he’s been resting (πŸ™„) much of the day.  I managed to get all the way across town to pottery shop my cousin recommended, and then took the Metro back to drop my three items off at the hometel. I was off again soon after (potty break) and headed back to the town square, and the SUN made a lovely appearance!

So there IS a blue sky in Poland!πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

Along my way this afternoon, I was finding memorials to those who lost their lives in the Warsaw Uprising. I haven’t made it to the museum yet, but hopefully tomorrow. It is so incredibly sad to read of the brave fighters who lost their lives in their pursuit of freedom. And after having endured so much already with the German and Russian occupation. πŸ˜”

This symbol on the stone designates those in the uprising.

And just around the corner…

A sad, sad history for Poland to be sure. And they have not forgotten. πŸ˜”πŸ‡΅πŸ‡±
