Time to Get Serious

I like to blog about the light and funny when I find it, as it helps me cope with the sad that is so prevalent here, in Jamaica…and in the world just now really. I don’t even know how to start with Cambodia. From the moment my feet hit the ground it was just another world. Driving to the countryside on our way up north, it changed even more. More beautiful, less crowded, less noise, and so lush, with foliage abundant everywhere I looked. The roadside vendors selling food, and other items would have been hard to resist, so I was glad it was not me driving the bus😂. I’d have wanted to stop at every one! I was surprised by the number of people riding motorcycles without head protection, Especially seeing as how they dart in and out of traffic to make their way along the roads. Often times I would see the adults wearing head protection, while the children had none. Babies were tucked on mother’s laps, small children tucked between older children, and many times up to three or four people crammed together on one bike! Tuk-tuks are abundant here, and many of the owners sling hammocks on them so they can rest in the heat of the afternoon. Some pictures to share…

We are in the Ratanakari province, in a lovely town called Balunge. Much more peaceful in so many ways than Phnom Penh. It was a long, full day’s drive, and we are all so very grateful for the prudence and skill of our driver. I’m sure it was challenging being in a bus with many chatty and laughing people for a twelve hour drive😂!

The face of concentration.

And finally here. 🤗🙏

Time to get ready for day two. I’ll continue later today. 💕
