More beautiful in Ste. Mere l’Eglise

This was the first town liberated after the landing on Utah Beach. These are the people featured in the film ‘The Girl who Wore Freedom’, a film everyone should try to see at least once in their lifetime.

So many stories to tell, but my phone must have been weary from all of the photos I was snapping throughout the day. I will try to catch up when we are on the bus 💕.

I will add one thing since Dean is out, and I can blog by voice… The little lady in the photo above is the caretaker of the very church where two young Americans took refuge. They were medics, barely trained, but kept 80 people alive until they were relieved by the land forces, when Ste. Mere l’Eglise had been secured. She watched her best friend’s life ebb away after the young girl picked up a booby-trapped mine when they were 12 years of age. On the day we were to arrive, she opened the church for us so we could go inside, hear the recollections of heroism, and spend some time there. I wish we could’ve spoken to her.💕
