Ugh. A bit undone this morning when I received notice that the first leg of our train journey to Portsmouth was canceled due to a ‘fault with train’. Had I been in the UK long, this would have been an easy rerouting, but for me, it was all new and uncertain. Had the lady at the information booth told me there were trains to and from Three Rivers all day long, I’d have known what to do. Instead, she just said (in a very French-and-difficult-to-understand accent) you just something-something-something, and then go to Victoria station something-something-something, the end. ‘That’s it?’ I said? A nod.
“Let’s go to Brighton,” I suggested to plus one๐๐๐๐.
“I’ve always wanted to go to Brighton,” he said!
So off we went to Brighton. But LO AND BEHOLD! Our train stopped in Three Rivers first! So…we got off in Three Rivers and hopped on the train headed to PORTSMOUTH๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐! (I was starting to get the hang of this now!)
We spent a lovely day, as originally planned, at the historic Portsmouth Harbor and touring the HMS Victory. For those of you who know me best, this can be likened to the HMS Redemption๐คฃ๐๐ค! An 1800’s first class warship serving during the Napoleonic wars! Rebeccainmont has come full circle with this visit๐.
