It’s my first official day off today. I was happy to discover that I will be working a four day work week. That allows three days for exploring beautiful Colorado for the next 12 weekends! What an amazing team I am working with!π±π€£πππ The more time I spend with them, the more I wonder if every hospice nurse is a believer. You almost have to be to embrace end of life, with its challenges and potential for heartbreak. It is such a gift to see the joy in death, and to be able to offer comfort to others during that final transition. And what a privilege for those of us who are able to share ourselves without rules and restrictions on what we can or cannot say…
With each day that passes, I become more and more aware of the beauty that surrounds me! So different from home, but so unique and beautiful in its own way. I finally picked up some lotion the other day, because my skin is drying out! I didn’t think there could be a place drier than Montana, but if there is, it is definitely Colorado. πππππ High desert, they call it. I have added my own terminology… High, dry desertππ. But my lotion smells like a lemon drop, so it keeps me smiling all day! It is somewhat reminiscent of the limoncello that was so enjoyable on those warm, summer days in Italyπ.
There are so many things I want to do today because of the opportunity is fresh. I will start with a Christmas market, and then pick up some groceries to better stock my refrigerator so I can cook more meals at home. I will take Jax for a walk at the dog park first, and then start the fun. I still need to do some final unpacking, so this afternoon will be perfect for that. π
Some fun photos in my new, albeit temporary routine…

Near the dog park here, there is a walking path called the ‘Enchanted Forest’. It’s perfect, because not only is there a porta potty, but a paved path that goes along several routes, one of which is by a river, and all of which have lovely benches to sit on if you get tired. I don’t think I’d sit on them at 20° though! πππ

Jax’s ‘playcare’ on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Super folks here! And he loved itπππ!

My Rocky Mountain View at dusk. So, so beautiful!

My coffee stop to work on patient documentation in between stopsπππππ. Have I mentioned I love Colorado? π
