Tuna for Breakfast

Due to the fact that much of Jamaica was without power after hurricane Beryl, I stocked up on tuna pouches for breakfast. We never really knew when the power was going to be on, and I’m not much of a sweet person for mornings, so tuna pouches was it. Not my favorite, but it’s a good hit of protein to keep me going much of the day. Here in Uganda, they seem to run on a different time zone. We asked that breakfast be ready by 6:30 each morning, as our normal departure time is 7:00. It’s been running a bit later each day, but I’ve been enjoying coming back to the room and having a second cup of coffee, along with the tuna pouch and time for a quick blog.

We are settling into a nice rhythm now that we are on our third day. It’s only downhill from here as we have become a smooth operating machine. The biggest challenge remains packing up and unpacking the meds each morning, but all have been filed in the pouches for ease of access. Today will be our last day in Kampala, and we will go to a different site for a Monday start at our new location. I could tell you the geo codes, but it would be meaningless to you.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Tomorrow will be a day of rest, after celebrating Sunday service with the church we have been working in. Those are always our favorite days!😊

We have a sick team member, who’s been under the weather with acute diarrhea since the second day in country. That presents some challenges for family back home who are worried, and puts additional stress on us with the constant reporting on his status. The team coordinator had a call from the state side director at 2 AM wanting to know how he was doing, but she made it clear that it was not appropriate to wake us up only to wake the patient to ask him how he was feeling. I was proud of her for that.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘. After all, he is among a team of doctors and nurses with access to medications and IV fluids. He is in good hands. And he has taken a turn for the better, which is a good thing and we are all relieved! Hopefully, he is up again and running in time for the second clinic. He’s missing out on a lot of fun, and I know he is bored silly laying in bed all day.😬 Well, my tuna pouch is empty, so I will head back down to wait for the others to file out of breakfast. Wishing you all a great rest!πŸ’•

A good back-up, salmon pouches!

And my infamous tuna pouchesπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. Kelly, Europe travel friend, told everyone I eat tuna for breakfast πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. I said ONLY when traveling! πŸ˜‚
