Wow! What a difference two months makes! I was here in Medora just this past August, and now here again on my way home from Fargo/Moorhead. It’s a virtual ghost town, with all of the shops shut down for the summer, save for the random few convenient shops and the Theodore Roosevelt Restaurant, which just happens to be my favorite! I can imagine the locals who live here year-round appreciate this time of year, as the traffic is virtually nonexistent. This year, however a tremendous construction project is underway with the building of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. I drove up to the site of the Medora musical, and there is an entirely new road put in, along with a sidewalk. Evidence of construction crews is everywhere, as are a vast number of road markings and an almost-complete roundabout. My dad said the presidential library will most likely change the face of Medora forever, and I think he is right. That leaves me sad, because Medora has been a such a large part of my memories for so many years! It is the small and quaint western town feel that makes it so special. I hope that does not dissipate, even as the level of tourism increases.

And… I do believe I am the only one staying at the Badlands Motel tonight!😂😂😂😂
