Wow… I was waiting at my gate at 4:30 when the announcement came on that they were looking for three people to give up their seats for $1500 in flight credits. As I mulled it over, I decided to go up and ask if they still needed somebody. The young man said yes, but he was unsure if Delta would pull my bag, and he said my lodging and transportation would have to come out of that $1500. I told him to let me know if he still needed people when all was said and done, and I took my seat as I begin to explore options for another rental car and a hotel. Not hearing anything by the time my zone was called, I went ahead and got on the plane, somewhat disappointed that I didn’t just say yes right then and there. Another rental car for a day would’ve been just $56, and a hotel down by the beach would’ve been $137. I was kind of kicking myself by this time, but I told the Lord, if it is His will, I’d gladly stay another day. After all, I have another flight to book to Europe for next October. 😂
I settled myself in my seat, unpacked my book, and began to read. People begin to file on, and I was rather sad to think that three people are getting to take advantage of that wonderful offer. But then I saw the gate agent approaching…
“Erin?” she said.
People started looking at me, wondering what I had done wrong I reckon. I simply nodded.
“Are you still willing?” she continued.
I nodded again, and she beckoned me to follow after her. Grabbing my bag and unbuckling my seatbelt, I followed after her, while everyone stared at me, their curiosity piqued, and wondering if I was getting arrested I am sure.😂😂😂
I was quickly rebooked on the same flight tomorrow. That will give me another full day of wandering around down by the beach. I booked a room at the Franciscan Inn and Suites, a beautiful hotel, and the gentleman gave me an entire suite all to myself !😱😂👏👏👏💕
Being here with the three ladies the past few days allowed for little time to just be where I really wanted to be, down on Cabrillo Boulevard, out on Stearns, Wharf, and at my favorite breakfast place across from the ocean, sipping hot coffee with Eggs Benedict. The gentleman at the desk told me I was welcome to leave my car tomorrow as long as I wanted. So I will sleep in as best I can, and then mosey on down to one of my favorite places in the whole world! What a blessing this day has been! 💕
After I dropped the ladies off at the airport at 10:30, I spent the rest of my time with Ann and Alan, catching up, and bringing to mind special memories of mine and Alan’s time in Hawaii and Okinawa, since he can no longer remember them himself.🥹 Many laughs were shared, and as always, it was hard to say goodbye.
And now I will settle in for the night, and unpack. Delta was kind enough to offload my bag, which was entirely unexpected, but so very much appreciated! 💕
