Riding ‘the tube’ in the UK is an entirely new experience in itself. And a very efficient way to travel, because when you’re underground, there is little need to be concerned with morning or evening traffic! Although this time around, we did realize it does have its faults when the lines get busy and/or backed up. Still, sometimes the most challenging part is squishing on to an already overly full carriage! But it really is rather fascinating to watch. Once we are safely tucked on board that isπ. Again, this is perhaps one of the greatest issues that Plus One never quite got used to, and I really don’t care for it either, but I put up with it because it’s Europe, and it’s worth the discomfort… that being, having people well within your personal space. More often than not, when the carriages are full, you are standing so close to somebody else that there is little room to turn around. I think the most uncomfortable part of this for ME is not so much the proximity of others, but in not knowing where to look. Unless you’re looking down at the floor or up at the ceiling, you are always looking at someone else. Which tends to make people nervous at times.ππππ
The most fascinating part though is when people have to get off at a given stop. Typically they’re not the last ones on, so there is a great re-shuffling that takes place while they work their way through the tightly packed bodies to get to the exiting doors and off the carriage. Typically, after they get off, more people get on, which leads to yet another re-shuffle! π

I am grateful that most of the people riding the tube are understanding of the crowding and discomfort, and are still willing to make way for the stragglers trying to hop on. A fun memory to be sure, riding the tube! And very reasonable in cost to boot! π
