After landing at Heathrow many getting off the flight beelined it to the WC (water closet). Not that anything was wrong…it was just that the go-around that added another 30 minutes in the air, so for those of us who decided ‘I can wait til we land’ were now regretting that decision. As I walked into the well marked women’s entrance, I hear two girls giggling. “They’re so CUTE,” one said. Yes, the toilette fascination extends beyond me!πππππ
In looking over my pictures from last night, I see the cornerstone photo of the women & children’s home. A dark history there…unwed girls were often (more often than I care to think) interred in these homes, their children discarded after birth, and then the young women forced into hard labor. If I recall, most never made it out. Under the guise of the church, I doubt anyone even wondered as to their welfare. But enough sad for this day. We are safe, well rested, and had a lovely time strolling the streets last night in our sleep-deprived stupor! Today we’ll see the sights on a ‘Hop on Hop off Bus’. π
Just a couple more from last nightπ.
Our hometel for the next three days. Just across from King’s Cross train station so ‘plus-one’ doesn’t have to walk very far. π
