Recalculating

I remember back in the days when we would use a Garmin for our girls’ trips. That was typically in Seattle, and so a lot of instructed ‘exit now’s’ got missed, only because they were last minute instructions. Nettie and I would both laugh at the annoyed tone of the Garmin voice saying, “Re-calculating.” We were so certain that had she been able to, she would’ve said, “Recalculating, idiots.” πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ It came to mind with my today plans. Grand Mesa was on the schedule for today, as it is my last free Saturday before I head home. As I got closer, I could see an ominous storm cloud, hovering directly over Grand Mesa…

Nevertheless, I didn’t think it could be that bad. But it was. I decided to turn back when I was in full on blizzard mode, and I saw a sign that read ‘traction equipment required beyond this point’, followed by, ‘curves tighten ahead’. That’s a bad combination, tightening curves and the lack of traction gearπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ So, first chance I could, I turned around. I recalculated, out of sheer prudence, “Stay in the yellow,” I kept telling myself!πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Grand Mesa will have to wait for summer. But I know Dean would enjoy seeing it 😊, so that’s okay by me!

if you zoom in on this last picture, you can read what Grand Mesa is. It sounds fascinating! Much like every other place I’ve been told to go on this western slope. But in recalculating, we came across some pretty fun stuff! First off, Grand Mesa, from a distance. I liken it to Mordor, in Lord of the Rings.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

And then a touching Veterans’ Memorial…

Jax paying homageπŸ’•.

So even though my best made plans were sidelined by weather, which is hovering all around the Montrose Valley, it turned out to be a fantastic and enjoyable day! Hard to believe I’ve only two weeks left…
