Sunset on the Mountain
More of Camp Wonderful π
Yes, the kiddos really swim here! 58 degrees outside, cloudy/drizzly much of the day, and the water is beyond chilly! Alaska tough, they keep telling me. πππ I am believing it!
Miracle Lodge in the distance, where great meals happen!
‘Bunker Bathooms’!πππππ
After a lovely dinner Diana and I collected a new volunteer from San Antonio, Texas, and went on a walk about. The sky cleared and the sun shone brighter than I’ve seen since my arrival five days past. Truly a beautiful thing to see. With the clouds out of the way for a time, the mountain tops were visible…so breathtaking! I am loving Alaska and its rugged, yet peaceful and serene beauty. π
Camp Wonderful
This place is so cool! Happy campers, happy staff, beautiful environment…the ‘Ranch Camp’ reminds me a bit of Medora! π Minus the MOOSEπππ
There are 300 plus we are cooking for just now. It’s a roomful to be sure, but it’s so fun to watch the dynamics of the group. I feel as if I am reliving my camp counselor days of years (MANY of them!) pastπ!
Alaska size ‘dude hats! π
Past campers ππ
Tomorrow I’ll go along with the Amish group to hike on a glacier. That’s going to be fun in so many ways! Never hung out with Amish teens before! But then, I’ve not been on a glacier before either!π€πππ A learning curve all around!

North, to Alaska
Oh wait! I’m already here!ππ On our drive up to Victory Bible camp, we saw some more amazing and beautiful scenery. Just so much to take in! The moose was an especially wonderful treat!
An excellent and memorable experience thus far, and I am so glad I made the journey north!
Seward
We stayed at a B&B run by a friend and former co-worker of Diana’s, and it was just across from Ressurection Bay…the perfect place to watch the cruise ships sail away each night!
Our hostess with the mostest…
Me, Diana, my friend/Kelly’s cousin, and Judy, our amazing hostess!
Gift shop on wheels!
Homes precariously perched on slate cliffsπ¬…
Food truck gyro for lunch! Delicious!
And Seward’s specialty…cream cheese ice cream with a balsamic glaze for an evening treat!
Wild Blue Yonder
Alaska still looks an awful lot like Montana, for which I am grateful. It is all just so beautiful! A few photos from the past two days down Seward way…
Along the trail up to Exit Glacier are a plethora of beautiful wildflowers!
The water in the creek bed is a beautiful, slate gray from the silt in the glacial runoff.
There are markers designating where the glacier was about every ten years. Exit Glacier has, and continues to recede with each passing year.
Fresh, glacier water!π€£π€ππ

Well I’ll Be!
Alaska feels an awful lot like Montana!πππ I think once we start heading south toward Seward, which is listed as ‘one of the most scenic drives in North America’ AND is on the ocean, things will look begin to look a bit different. But WOW! What a beautiful day to be in the last frontierπ€£!
First stop, the Anchorage Museum.π

The Last Frontier
… not to be confused with the final frontier, and the Starship Enterprise, under the command of Captain James T Kirk! A show my family faithfully watched during my younger years, and one which still makes me smile when I happen upon an old (ancient) rerun π.
No, I am speaking of the ‘last frontier’, Alaska, is where I am headed tomorrow. For the past few years I’ve had the opportunity and an open invitation to volunteer for a weeklong session at Victory Bible Camp, located 75 miles northwest of Anchorage. This year I am taking advantage of the invitation! I will stay with a friend, who has lived on the campus grounds and worked at the camp for several years now. Our first three days will be spent venturing up to Seward to hike and explore. While it will be vastly different from my Europe travels, and my FDR deployments, I am very much looking forward to it! I will take you along with me in my transporter, so stay tuned ππ€π€£!

Titles
I’ve had so many thoughts running through my mind in the days since I’ve been home. I just haven’t taken the time to sit down and Blog about them. As I was presenting a slideshow to share with my church on my recent FDR deployments this past weekend, I came across several photos I had taken in Europe. I wasn’t quite ready to delete them because I hadn’t shared them yet. So today’s the day. At least for some of them. π
These are just a handful of the busts representing past performers at the Paris Royal Opera House. Author, painter, singer, composer, dancer...
As I gazed at them, and their respective titles, I got to wondering…what might my title be when my life is over? It would not be to my choosing, but rather come from the perspective of those who knew me best. The thought of that made me realize how crucial it is to always be kind. To be truthful. To give of my time and unconditional love. To serve. To be a light in the darkness. The list goes on and on, but as I continue to think on that list, my motivation is renewed to always and consistently give my best to all who come into my days, knowing each day might be my last, or it might be theirs. π
