The crowds have grown noticeably thicker as the days have moved toward the weekend, and today topped them all! Barely room to moveπ±. I mentioned to Dean how glad I was that we were here in the early part of the week, and could enjoy the Christmas market in the square unencumbered by this many people. I am grateful that the same will hold true for Warsaw, as we will leave for Warsaw on Sunday, and not arrive until later in the afternoon. We will have Monday through Thursday there, and then prepare to fly home on Friday morning. Some scenes from today’s market…

Inside an outside, covered and heated seating area having sour rye soup and a toddy π€π. Fun to watch the activity from this vantage point!
And what they look like from the outside looking in π…

A crazy, fun, chaotic market day. And horse drawn wagons weave their way through the tourist buggies, which are weaving their way through bicycles, electric scooters, and people trying to navigate the crowds with hot cocoa in their hands. Definitely not for the faint of heart!ππ
And some more random pretty from ‘the square’…

Our Airbnb hostess had recommended Wedel‘s House of Chocolate (three generations of chocolatiers!π±) for the best hot cocoa this side of the United States, so of course we went there this afternoon. Hot cocoa, you could eat with a spoon!πππ

We chose two ‘flights’, so they aren’t as big as they look. Even still, we were unable to finish them. But all were delicious!

Two tired travelers ready to walk home for the night. But first, wine and a charcuterie at the local Italian restaurant in Poland.☺️

Toddies at noon with hot soup.

Plus One is happy nowππ.

The famous, traditional ‘Polish Sour Rye Soup’. This has quickly become one of my favorites!
And now I’ll call it a night. We have an early morning wake up and departure to meet a tour group at 6 AM, headed to Auschwitz-Berkenau, and then the Salt Mines. We were a bit torn on this one before we left for Poland, but I am glad we decided to go since we are here. Taelor visited Auschwitz with her German class on their six-week trek through and around Germany. She said it was a very emotional experience, but she is glad we are going. Until tomorrow, I wish you a good-night π.
