When I booked our ’hometel’, one of the amenities was listed as a ‘safe room’. And as we were walking about town today, several places were identified as ‘shelter here’. I imagine when you live in a country that has been under threat of attack since its inception, necessary steps for defensive reckoning must be put in place. Our outer windows have a blast proof shield that lowers and rises at the touch of a button. These double as window coverings during the heat of the day. The door to the bedroom is steel, think and heavy. The window in this room has an outer, steel barrier. This is the designated safe room, should it be needed.

When it is lowered, the spaces in between are shut tight and no light gets through…
Below is a view of the blinds lowered into position in the apartment across from ours.

Window covering.
We don’t expect to have to seek shelter here, but I can’t imagine living with that perpetual threat😢.
